The year 2019 marks the seventieth anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China. As a birthday gift toward the nation, it was jointly conferred by the Shaanxi Bureau of Cultural Relics and Tsinghua University (Art Museum) to undertake the special exhibition "The Cultures and Arts of the Zhou, Qin, Han, and Tang," on the basis of top-quality cultural artifacts of the successive Zhou, Qin, Han and Tang dynasties (and further historical periods preceding the Tang). Drawing from a classical Han-dynasty auspicious phrase, the exhibition theme was decided as "Everlasting Like The Heavens." Invoking prosperity and a good future of the People's Republic of China, the passing down of Chinese civilization and China's outstanding traditional culture from generation to generation, and the ever-gleaming spirit of the "Flourishing Ages of The Han and Tang" and spirit of great rejuvenation of the Chinese peoples, the messages carried by the phrase "everlasting like the heavens" are rich, profound, and felicitous. The exhibition period was set as ninety-nine days, implying the number of "double-nine in harmony with the heavenly way," and the "great dynamic of double-nine, according with the ending and beginning of the heavens."
