Since its establishment in 1956, the Academy of Arts & Design, Tsinghua University (formerly Central Academy of Arts and Design) has been adhering to the idea of “Art for Life, Design for Life”. The Academy has contributed a lot for China's national image design, aesthetic education of the general public, as well as people's daily lives. As a forefront of China's art and design education, the Academy has cultivated tens of thousands of highly skilled talents in all walks of life.
To celebrate the 70th anniversary of the founding of the People's Republic of China, the 63rd anniversary of the establishment of the Academy of Arts & Design of Tsinghua University, and the 20th anniversary of the merger between Central Academy of Arts and Design and Tsinghua University, the exhibition showcases more than 300 pieces of works from the Academy. Works include the designs of national emblem of the People's Republic of China (cooperation), emblem of CPPC, Official State Dinner ware, Hongqi CA770 and Beijing bus, commemorative stamps, design projects for Beijing 2008 Summer Olympics, and various products etc. The history and development of the Academy has been presented from three parts: China's national image, design for daily life and professional education, displaying the important works from the teachers and alumni, and other important research achievements.
Falling upon the 40th anniversary of inauguration of murals at Beijing Capital International Airport and other art works, this exhibition has set up a separate exhibition area to take all the audience, through images, manuscripts and videos, to travel back in time to appreciate this mural creation process that is of landmark importance for the national public art work.
