Exhibition Profile

The year 2021 is the 100th anniversary of the founding of Communist Party of China, the 110th anniversary of Tsinghua University, and the 99th birthday of Mr. Wu Liangyong, the academician of Chinese Academy of Sciences and Chinese Academy of Engineering, professor of Tsinghua University. Wu Liangyong is famous architect, urbanist and educator, the founder of science of human settlements. Over 70 years, Wu Liangyong has been working hard and educating students for the country and people. He founded a theory, devoted his life to it, and finally became a master who made great contribution to China and world human settlements development.

 

This exhibition is jointly organized by Chinese Academy of Sciences, Chinese Academy of Engineering and Tsinghua University. The exhibition uses National Craftsmen: Wu Liangyong Academic Achievement Exhibition as the theme, through five sections which are Old Gardener on Tsinghua Campus, From the architecture field to the wide universe, Science of Human Settlements: People centered theory and practice, Regional & Urban Planning and Wander in the World of Art, the exhibition shows the profound achievement by Wu Liangyong about his teaching, architecture designs, scientific research, planning practice and art making, which also shows his great spirit and character.

Artist Profile

Wu Liangyong, born in Nanjing in 1922, famous architect, urbanist and educator, the founder of Science of Human Settlements. He is the academician of Chinese Academy of Science and Chinese Academy of Engineering, and the professor of Tsinghua University.  He successfully applied the theory of science of human settlements to carry out multi-scale and multi-type planning and designing research and practice such as regions, cities, architecture and gardens. He has won the World Habitat Award, Jean Tschumi Prize of UIA, ARCASIA gold awards for Architecture, Tan Kah Kee Science Awards, 2011 National Top Science and Technology Award, and the national honorary title of Reform Pioneer in 2018.
