The lecture was hosted by Yang Dongjiang, Deputy Curator of the Museum, and was attended by more than 200 people including students and teaches from Tsinghua University and art lovers from outside the school.

Feng Yuan mainly focused on three topics in his lecture. First of all, he explained the orientation and significance of the Tsinghua University Art Museum. He said the museum would persistently pursue classical quality, academic value,  creativity and public service for teachers and students from Tsinghua University as well as the broad masses outside the school. Not only does the museum display typical Chinese classical artworks approved by the expert, but it would also pay attention and support to new achievements of contemporary art, putting in effort to increase Chinese culture influences to the international society. With traditional art in one hand and contemporary art in the other, we must combine the past with the present, generating more content of  human civilisation and contemporary innovations. The museum bears rich cultural values and reflects the development of nature and humanity, demonstrating our ancestor’s thinking and creativity. Art museums have a huge impact towards cultivating the character of citizens and improving their art appreciations.
