Lei Guiyuan, professor of Tsinghua Academy of Art & Design, was one of the most outstanding Chinese art and craft educators, designers, graphic experts, and founders of Chinese art and design education. He contributed greatly to the establishment and development of the academic branch of contemporary Chinese art and design. 2016 marks the 100th anniversary of professor Lei Guiyuan's birthday. Co-hosted by Tsinghua University Art Museum and Tsinghua University Academy of Art and Design, the retrospective exhibition demonstrates Prof. Lei Guiyuan's design principle of creating art for life, education principle of combining knowledge with practice, and artistic principle of comprehensive yet specialized, through the sections of "The Eternal Teacher" and "Boundless Artist". The exhibition emphasizes the all-rounded presentation of diversity, pays attention to cultural contexts of the era, and reconstructs the historical environment. The exhibition, through original artworks, important writings, literature files, videos and photographs, design replicas, essential rough drafts, and famous quotes, systematically displays Prof. Lei Guiyuan's picturesque Life, diverse education theories and rational, and humane designs filled with brilliance and dedication.
