The art and life of Xin Dongwang are almost a kind of legend. His ten years in Tsinghua University were the culmination of his artistic creation. In this period, he deeply studied the essence of realistic oil painting while deviating from the customary appearance and expression methods of realistic oil painting. Xin Dongwang created many works featuring migrant workers and various social figures, reappearing the temper of times and vivid expressions of China’s social transformation, touching contemporary Chinese souls and deep emotions. He portrayed livings and live, and was praised by the fine arts community and received extensive social attention. His works were hailed as the "Portraits of the Times." The never-ending rhythm of lives in his works will always shine in the development of contemporary Chinese oil painting.
