The exhibition is chiefly based on the mirror collection donated by Mr. Wang Ganghuai, an alumnus of Tsinghua University. Some mirrors are borrowed from other institutions and private collectors. The exhibition seeks to revisit the ancient faith in the culture of mirrors, and illuminate the underlying principles that motivated the people of old times in making bronze mirrors as well as the profound meanings of the inscriptions found on bronze mirrors. More than 400 bronze mirrors are on display, systematically demonstrating how the ancient Chinese culture of bronze mirrors developed while promoting further academic research on the subject. This is by far the largest and the academically most ambitious exhibition of bronze mirrors, inviting the visitors to partake in the exquisite culture of bronze mirrors and its aesthetic appreciation.
