Exhibition Profile

In October 2021, the first exhibition of contemporary art “The Realm of Existence” made its public appearance in Tsinghua University Art Museum (TAM). The positive reception by artists, critics, audience, and media marked a promising beginning for TAM to hold more research-based exhibitions of contemporary art. As such, TAM planned to introduce the second exhibition of Chinese contemporary art in 2024, themed “Seeing and Being Seen”. The exhibition centers around a pair of antithetical concepts, “seeing” and “Being seen”, which points to the character of contemporary art despite its seeming simplicity. Featuring more than 70 pieces of work by 13 artists, this exhibition reveals the cultural landscape of contemporary art from different perspectives, touching upon relationships between man and man, man and nature, as well as man and society. Through acute artistic perception and creativity of the artists, the works are to introduce to audience the fascinating peculiarities of contemporary art.
