From the perspective of art history, Chinese painting not only has a continuous lineage of creation but also a systematic theoretical framework. Although modern life has gradually distanced itself from the misty mountains and the refined tastes of literati, research into traditional Chinese painting continues to advance steadily along the path of ‘borrowing from the past to open up the present.’ The collection of traditional Chinese paintings at the Tsinghua University Art Museum, spanning from the Ming Dynasty to the present day, encompasses various schools and masters, with a complete system and outstanding academic value, fully showcasing the diverse facets of Chinese painting art. The exhibition presents the artistic style and cultural connotations of Chinese painting since the Ming Dynasty, revitalise the collection from a contemporary perspective, and inspire audiences to reflect on and discover the enduring value and contemporary vitality of traditional Chinese painting.
