Exhibition Profile

The Special Exhibition Celebrating the Artistic and Scholarly Kinship of Qi Gong and Xu Wuwen offers glimpses into the academic and artistic endeavors of Mr. Qi Gong and Mr. Xu Wenwu, but it is far from complete. The profound scholarship and exquisite artistry of these two masters extend far beyond what this showcase can encompass. Mr. Qi Gong, endowed with exceptional talent and diligent spirit, was guided from childhood by his great-grandfather, grandfather, and several eminent mentors. Though he did not complete his formal secondary education, he ultimately became a renowned master. Mr. Xu Wuwen, having benefitted from rigorous family education since childhood, entered university as the top scorer. Encouraged and mentored by his father's friends and esteemed teachers, he gained nationwide renown despite residing in the remote area of Western Sichuan. Both masters dedicated their lives to teaching, exerting profound educational influence and committing themselves to preserving classical culture. Their equally remarkable achievements in scholarship and art embody their steadfast role as torchbearers of China's outstanding traditional heritage.

The "Artistic Endeavors" section presents the artistic legacy of both masters through eleven thematic units: Modeled Calligraphy, archival displays of their practice pieces emulating ancient masters; Classic Transcriptions, curating scrolls featuring their transcriptions of classical poetry and prose; Original Verse, compiling self-composed.
