Exhibition Profile

Ceramics, with their luminous surfaces and clarity of finish, have long shaped Chinese aesthetic conceptions of restraint, purity, and inner composure. In this exhibition, the term “technical and cultural codes” refers not only to glaze formulas, firing temperatures, or mastery of the kiln, but also to an underlying cultural logic: how order is formed through engagement with the natural world, and how objects become vessels for intellectual and spiritual life. In this sense, ceramics represent both the culmination of technical achievement and a refined expression of aesthetic thought. Through this teaching collection, the exhibition invites visitors to explore the historical development of Chinese ceramic technology and taste, while also offering a way of understanding through which these works can continue to be read and interpreted.
