In order to get materials and prepare for his long scroll of ink and wash portraiture, Out of Bayanhara,Li Bo'an had gone on a tour to the source of the Yellow River for several times to sketched from nature and did ink studies in Tibetan Areas. As a result,Li Bo'an gave birth to a series of works,Head Portraits of Tibetans. In comparison with People of Taihang Mountains, there have been further developments of Head Portraits of Tibetans both in artistic expression and artistic conception. It also reveals that after a enthusiastic and constant exploration more than ten years for innovative expressions of the Chinese ink and wash portraiture, Li Bo'an has made abundant and remarkable achievement.
“Ink and wash Portraiture masterpiece of Li Bo'an” is an elaborate exhibition of this year at Tsinghua University Art Museum, which will be another exhibition about Li Bo'an after“Out of Bayanhara——The Exhibition of the Donation of Li Bo'an's Masterpieces”of 2019.Part of the long scroll of portraiture, out of Bayanhara, will be put on public display at this exhibition, and those two series of ink and wash portraiture, People of Taihang Mountains and Head Portraits of Tibetans, will be displayed in different sections,so as to enable the viewers to go further into Li Bo'an's art and personality.By taking this chance, it also provides a great opportunity for us to enrich this sequence of our collection by getting Li Bo'an's representative works of different periods.
We are firmly under the belief that Li Bo'an will be well known for his important role and wider implications in Chinese art history .
Eternal glory to Li Bo'an!
